Embracing the Conversation: Anubis’ “Desert Reflections Death Café” Series
We’re thrilled to announce that starting January 15, 2025, Anubis will host a monthly “Desert Reflections Death Café” at our Palm Springs location, 340 West San Rafael Drive. This unique series will take place on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM, offering a welcoming space to explore one of life’s most universal yet taboo topics: death.
The enduring beauty of the desert cactus at sunset reflects resilience and introspection—qualities celebrated in the open conversations at the Desert Reflections Death Café in Palm Springs.
What is a Death Café?
At its core, a Death Café is a safe, judgment-free environment where individuals gather to talk openly about death. Whether you’re pondering philosophical questions, seeking solace in shared experiences, or simply curious about a topic we often avoid, this is the place for you. Discussions are guided by the participants, with no set agenda—just thoughtful conversation and mutual respect.

Why Join Us?
Death is not just an end; it’s an opportunity to connect, reflect, and grow. Yet, in our culture, it’s a subject shrouded in silence. At the Desert Reflections Death Café, we aim to break that silence in a supportive and inclusive setting.
Each session will be moderated by Lauren Stambaugh, known as the Desert Death Doula, a compassionate guide in navigating end-of-life issues. Based in Joshua Tree, Lauren brings a wealth of experience and sensitivity to these deeply personal conversations. You can learn more about her work here.
